These SUPER CRISPY Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts are the ultimate side dish, perfect for the holidays or your next weeknight meal! This is such a simple, delicious recipe that results in the crispiest, sweet & salty brussels sprouts – and the best part is they’re ready in 30 minutes!
I love my Roasted Brussels Sprouts recipe so much but I know many people prefer using the air fryer – so I developed this Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts recipe specifically for you! The air fryer does such a great job of quickly crisping the brussels sprouts, they almost taste like potato chips! (Crispy like my Air Fryer Chicken Wings, which is the top recipe on my site, or Air Fryer Crispy Pork Belly!) I like my Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts on the saltier side but as always, feel free to season them to your liking.
Don’t have an air fryer but still want to make brussels sprouts? Make my Roasted Brussels Sprouts recipe in the oven instead! You’ll see why this is one of the top recipes on both my blog and my social media platforms! Both of them go perfectly with a comforting main dish like my moist and tender Meatloaf or Braised Beef Short Ribs!

Ingredients for Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts
Making Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts is so easy, much easier than you may think! There are only a handful of ingredients and my method will help you get them super crispy and extra delicious.
- Brussels Sprouts: My #1 tip would be to try to use brussels sprouts of similar sizes. The more even and uniform the sizes are, the more evenly they will cook – including crisping up at the same rate! When you use differently sized brussels sprouts (significantly smaller or larger than the rest), some may burn while others are only slightly crispy.
- Brussels sprout are such a great source of fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants – I love how this recipe is not only quick, easy and delicious, but healthy, too!
- Kosher Salt: I love using kosher salt in my recipes because of the pure, salty taste and the larger grains. Kosher salt really shines in recipes like this one, where there are only a handful of ingredients!
- Black Pepper: Because there are only a few seasonings on this recipe, I highly recommend using freshly ground black pepper. Freshly ground black pepper has so much more flavor; once you experience it, you can’t go back. I love my pepper mill, I couldn’t live without it!
- Garlic Powder: In this recipe, I prefer garlic powder over fresh garlic – I noticed that when I tried using minced fresh garlic, sometimes the garlic would burn.
- Honey: The honey in this recipe not only gives the brussels sprouts a nice sweetness BUT it also helps with crisping them up.
- Neutral Flavored Oil: Always use the highest quality oil you can get! I personally always cook with avocado oil.
- The oil with the honey will help the brussels sprouts become crispy and delicious quickly in the air fryer.
- The best part about cooking in an air fryer is that you need less oil than you would in the oven.
- If you don’t have avocado oil, you can sub with your favorite high quality oil (such as olive oil).
Cooking Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts: Recipe Instructions
1. Prepare and cut the Brussels Sprouts in half
Wash your brussels sprouts thoroughly. Drain, dry, and remove any excess dirt and pick off any outer leaves that may be yellow or wilted.
Once clean and dry, slice off the root and then cut each brussels sprout in half lengthwise as seen below. Slicing them in half is for two reasons – 1. so they can fit nicely in the basket, and 2. it gives you more surface area for the brussels sprouts to cook and become crispy.
2. Season the Brussels Sprouts
Place the brussels sprouts halves in a large mixing bowl and combine with your oil, kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and honey. Give them a good mix and toss to evenly coat each one with the oil and seasonings.
3. Air Fry the Brussels Sprouts
Spray the air fryer basket with a neutral flavored oil spray. Place the brussels sprouts in the air fryer basket in a single layer. If any leaves become separated from the brussels sprouts, make sure to remove them, as loose leaves may burn.
Cook them in the air fryer at 400 degrees F for 12-14 minutes. Open the air fryer and shake the brussels sprouts in the basket. Air fry for a second time at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Feel free to check them during the second air fry to ensure you are happy with the color. (I like them dark and crispy; you may prefer them to be lighter.)
4. Garnish and Serve
Once the brussels sprouts color are to your liking, turn off the air fryer. Transfer the Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts to another bowl and season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve and enjoy!
PRO TIPS
Expert Tips for the BEST Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts
Brussels Sprouts Sizes
- Try to use brussels sprouts of similar sizes. The more even and uniform the sizes are, the more evenly they will cook – including crisping up at the same rate! When you use differently sized brussels sprouts (significantly smaller or larger than the rest), some may burn while others are only slightly crispy.
Cooking Times May Vary
- Cooking times can vary for a number of factors, including the type of air fryer you are using and the size of your brussels sprouts. For this reason, I always recommend you check your brussels sprouts as they are cooking in the air fryer to ensure that they are done to your liking. I like mine on the darker and crispier side. If you prefer them less dark and/or crispy, I would adjust the cooking time by a few minutes less.
Give Them a Good Shake!
- When checking your brussels sprouts in the air fryer basket, make sure to give them a good shake. This will help re-distribute the brussels sprouts and help them cook evenly. You want each one to get crispy and beautifully golden brown!
Be Generous With Your Oil
- These Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts are able to get crispy in the air fryer primarily because of the oil –therefore, make sure each brussels sprout is coated evenly. Don’t be afraid to use a little more oil if needed!
Eat Your Vegetables!
I wasn’t always the biggest fan of vegetables until I realized it’s all about how you cook (and season) them! Some of my favorite vegetable sides are Chinese restaurant dishes – everyone loves my Chinese Green Beans with Pork (a classic), my super easy Bok Choy with Garlic Sauce, and a refreshing (and fun to make) Chinese Smashed Cucumber Salad.
If you’re a fan of the Taiwanese restaurant chain Din Tai Fung, you have to try my viral Din Tai Fung Cucumber Salad and super addictive Din Tai Fung Garlic Green Beans!
Other Sides for the Holidays
