A Note from CJ
This Big Mac Sauce is better than the original!

McDonald’s publishes the ingredient list for their Big Mac sauce online (see below), so I’ve tested various versions of this based on it – my ingredient list is much shorter, with no additives or preservatives!
I love making homemade sauces, like Popeye’s Blackened Ranch, Ranch Dressing, Raising Cane’s Sauce, Wingstop Ranch, Chick Fil A Sauce, Tonkatsu Sauce, BBQ sauce, Sweet and Sour Sauce, and Thai Sweet Chili Sauce!
Ingredient Tips
Refer to the recipe card for the full list of ingredients and measurements!
- paprika and turmeric: these two ingredients mixed together gives the Big Mac Sauce its signatuve color (contrary to popular option, it is NOT ketchup or tomato paste/sauce!)
- ground mustard: I tested this with both ground mustard and yellow mustard, and ground mustard got the best results (similar to In-N-Out Sauce)!
- mayo: Best Food’s or Hellman’s worked best!
- sugar + sweet relish: Big Mac sauce’s signature is how it is both sweet and tangy; sugar and sweet relish is what gives it those flavors.
How to Make Big Mac Sauce
Mix Ingredients and Let Sit for 10 Minutes – In a small mixing bowl, mix together distilled white vinegar, sugar, ground mustard, and salt . Mix well until the sugar, mustard, and salt have dissolved. To the same bowl, add mayonnaise, relish, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, and tumeric. Mix together and let sit for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Store in the fridge for up to 1 week.

PRO TIPS
CJ’s Recipe & Storage Tips
Whisk the sugar, ground mustard and salt into the vinegar first – these ingredients are most susceptible to clumping, so it’s best to whisk them into the vinegar first to ensure that they are mixed properly with the mayonnaise.
Let the flavors meld for at least 10 minutes for best results! (This goes for all sauces!)
Storage – Store Big Mac sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Do not leave this outside in room temperature – it will spoil! Use a clean utensil every time to avoid contamination.
