A Note from CJ

Make Wingstop Ranch at home!

I used to get extra ranch at Wingstop until I figured out how to make it at home! The secret ingredient is something easily found in stores – Hidden Valley Ranch dry seasoning!

Serve it with Baked Chicken Wings, Buffalo Wings, Air Fryer Buffalo Wings (or simple Air Fryer Wings) or Fried Chicken Tenders! I love making copycat sauces at home, like Popeye’s Blackened RanchChick-Fil-A Sauce, and Raising Cane’s Sauce!

Ingredient Tips

Refer to the recipe card for the full list of ingredients and measurements!

  • regular mayonnaise – I recommend full fat mayo for the richness and creaminess, which will balance out the tang of the vinegar and all of the delicious herbs.
  • buttermilk – if you don’t have buttermilk or don’t want to buy a whole carton, you can make it at home – add 1 tablespoon of distilled white vinegar or fresh lemon juice to 1 cup of whole milk for approximately one cup of buttermilk.
  • Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning – this is the secret ingredient to making copycat Wingstop Ranch!

How to Make Wingstop Ranch

Mix the mayonnaise, buttermilk, and ranch seasoning in a bowl until combined. Cover and let chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to allow all of the flavors to meld together before serving!

PRO TIPS

CJ’s Storage Tips

Store Homemade Wingstop Ranch in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. It must be refrigerated – do not leave it out or the dairy can lead to it going bad. Avoid dipping directly into the dressing and only use clean utensils – any bacteria from food or used utensils will make your ranch go bad faster. I don’t recommend freezing homemade ranch (or any dressing with dairy in it), as I find that the texture changes once thawed.

Notes

For authentic wingstop ranch, do not use “light” mayo or “reduced fat” buttermilk. Of course, if you want a lighter option, you can absolutely use them, but know that the real recipe uses the full fat version of these ingredients.
I highly recommend placing the ranch in the fridge for at least an hour which will also the seasonings to fully absorb into the ranch!
