A Note from CJ

Make Chick-Fil-A Sauce at home!

Anyone who’s eaten at Chick-Fil-A agrees that the real star of the menu is their signature Chick-Fil-A Sauce! It’s smoky, tangy, and rich with a hint of sweetness – there’s nothing quite like it! And now there is no need to buy the store bought version when you can make it at home!

I love making homemade sauces like Chinese Chili Oil, Easy Homemade Ranch Dressing, Homemade BBQ Sauce, Raising Cane’s Sauce, Honey Mustard, Spicy Mayo, Thai Sweet Chili Sauce and Tonkatsu Sauce!

Ingredient Tips

Refer to the recipe card for the full list of ingredients and measurements!

  • barbecue sauce – I like using Sweet Baby Rays Sweet & Smoky no sugar added, which has a distinct smokey flavor that’s VERY similar the one Chick-Fil-A sauce has (or use homemade BBQ sauce and add 1/4 tsp of liquid smoke).
  • mayo – use full fat mayo for the richness and creaminess, which will balance out the tang of the mustard, apple cider vinegar and lemon juice.
  • honey – the honey adds sweetness to the smokey and tangy flavors.
  • yellow mustard – any brand will do; if you want to make your sauce spicier, you can use dijon mustard.
  • apple cider vinegar – a splash gives it the acidity the sauce needs.
  • turmeric – this gives the Chick-Fil-A sauce some of that signature golden yellow color

How to Make Homemade Chick-Fil-A Sauce

Making Homemade Chick-Fil-A Sauce is so easy – all you have to do is add all of the ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix well! If you have the time, I would recommend letting the flavors meld together for 24 hours – this will always make any of your homemade sauces taste better!

Key Tip

CJ’s Storage Tips

  • You can store Chick-Fil-A Sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • Make sure your container is well sealed to prevent spoiling.
  • Avoid dipping directly into the jar and only use clean utensils – any bacteria from food or used utensils will make your sauce spoil faster.
  • Don’t leave your Homemade Chick-Fil-A Sauce out – put it back in the refrigerator after opening or using.

Notes

Recipe Tips – you can use your favorite BBQ sauce, but after testing I highly recommend Sweet Baby Rays Sweet & Smokey BBQ Sauce due to it’s smokiness that is very similar to Chick Fil A sauce!

This is it! I don’t know how I’ve not come across this recipe before, but it’s so good. My husband said it’s just like CF sauce – and I’ve made plenty of other copycat recipes. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Does the brand of mayo matter. We live in a Helman’s only area. All others taste weird, but not sure if it will work in the recipe.

Just made this for me & my family. Tastes JUST like chick fil a sauce. I didn’t have turmeric but it still tasted great 😌
